The 2015 event was the biggest Snowarama for Easter Seals to date. Rhonda Harrison of Easter Seals Ontario said, It was a great turnout and the trails were amazing. We had 135 riders and raised $40,191 for Easter Seals kids.
This years total brings the 12-year total to $333,848 for the Grand Portage Lodge and Casino events.
The top three fundraisers in the 2015 Snowarama for Easter Seals event were Gary Steele who raised $5,060; Carolean Marshal who earned $964 and Wayne Muloin, the top fundraiser at $5,661. All three of the top fundraisers are from Thunder Bay.
Jacqueline Pylychuk, the mother of Easter Seals Ambassador Zachary, who has spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), sometimes referred to as childrens Lou Gehrigs disease, said it is sometimes difficult to attend events like Snowarama, but she said Easter Seals is so important in so many childrens lives that she manages to find the time.
Its not just about equipment for kids. Its about mobility and helping them achieve a greater level of independence, said Jacqueline.
